Call for young people interested in biosphere reserves who want to participate in the "Youth Forum of MAB 2017"

The Ministry of Environment and UNESCO's Secretariat for Man and the Biosphere (MAB) invite young people working in biosphere reserves to participate in the selection process of the person who Will represent the country in the "MAB YOUTH FORUM 2017 - Committed to Sustainable Development", to be held from 18 to 23 September in Italy, within the Delta del Po Biosphere Reserve.

The call is aimed at young people between the ages of 18 and 35 who live or work in biosphere reserves, or study or conduct research in Ecuador's seven biosphere reserves: The Cajas Massif, Podocarpus, El Condor, Yasuní, Sumaco, Archipelago of Columbus and Dry Forest.

Travel and subsistence expenses will be covered thanks to support from the BRESEP Project "Biosphere Reserves as a Tool for Managing Coastal Areas and Islands in the Eastern South Pacific" and to the Economic Support of the Government of Flanders of the Kingdom of Belgium .
This forum is an opportunity for young people interested in biosphere reserves to share ideas and find new ways to contribute to the sustainable development of their communities. The objective of this call is to strengthen the voice of the youth in issues of Biosphere Reserves and in the configuration of their territory, as well as define their participation in the MAB program.

Among the topics to be addressed during the forum are: the contribution of young people to the life of Biosphere Reserves, research and studies on the sustainable development of Biosphere Reserves and a sustainable future for young people in Biosphere Reserves.

 

How to participate?

    Applicants must be between 18 and 35 years old.
    To live, work, study or carry out activities that highlight the role of a biosphere reserve in Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Panama and Peru
    Have good knowledge of English, as it will be the language to be used in all activities of the forum.
    Have your passport up to date (it must be valid until at least April 2018).
    Fill out the Application Form and send it along with a letter of motivation (in English and Spanish) and a letter of recommendation / support from your Biosphere Reserve
    Participants who will be nominated by their respective biosphere reserve coordinators and supported by their MAB National Committees will be able to submit the documentation to the MAB focal point at the National Biodiversity Directorate of the MAE until April 10, 2017.
