Invitation Day of National System of Protected Areas of Ecuador

The National System of Protected Areas (SNAP) is the set of protected natural areas that guarantee coverage and connectivity of important marine ecosystems in terrestrial, marine and coastal levels, their cultural resources and major water sources.

The SNAP covers four regions of the country and is home to 51 nature reserves that extend in approximately 20% of the surface of Ecuador; the same as aim the conservation and sustainable use of resources.

In order to sensitize the public on the importance of conserving and protecting resources and ecosystems that inhabit these natural surfaces, was established on July 18 as the Day of National System of Protected Areas of Ecuador.
